Publication Ethics
The Journal of Water Resources and Environmental Engineering (hereinafter referred to as the Journal) is committed to maintaining and promoting the highest standards of ethics in scientific publishing. Academic integrity is the core foundation ensuring the value, reliability, and long-term impact of published research works.
These publishing ethics regulations are developed based on:
- Current Vietnamese legal regulations on journalism and scientific publishing;
- Academic integrity regulations of Thuyloi University;
- International best practices in scientific publishing, especially the Core Practices of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE).
These regulations apply to authors, reviewers, editors, and all parties involved in the Journal's publishing activities.
Responsibilities of Authors
- Manuscripts submitted to the Journal must be original research works, unpublished, and not simultaneously submitted for review to any other journal or publication.
- All forms of plagiarism, self-plagiarism, fabrication, and falsification of data are strictly prohibited.
- All sources of documents, data, images, and tables used in the article must be fully, accurately, and transparently cited.
- Only individuals with substantial academic contributions to the research may be listed as authors.
- The corresponding author is responsible for ensuring: All co-authors are fully listed; they have read, agreed upon, and approved the final version of the manuscript; and there are no authorship disputes at the time of submission.
- Authors must disclose all conflicts of interest (if any), including financial, professional, or personal conflicts that could potentially influence the research results or their interpretation. All sources of funding and research support must be clearly stated in the article.
- Authors are responsible for retaining original research data and being ready to provide it upon request by the Editorial Board for review, verification, or handling of ethical issues. The Journal encourages the practice of sharing research data in accordance with legal regulations and scientific standards.
- Upon discovering significant errors in a published article, authors must proactively and promptly notify the Editorial Board and cooperate in implementing corrections, errata, or retractions as regulated.
Responsibilities of Reviewers
- Reviewers must maintain absolute confidentiality regarding all information related to the manuscript sent for review.
- The content of the manuscript must not be used for personal purposes or transferred to a third party.
- Review comments must be objective, scientific, fair, and constructive, aiming to enhance the academic quality of the article.
- Any personal assessments, biases, or comments lacking scientific basis are unacceptable.
- Reviewers should only accept manuscripts within their appropriate field of expertise.
- Reviewers must decline a review if a conflict of interest exists that could affect the objectivity of the evaluation.
Responsibilities of the Editorial Board and Editors
- Editorial and publishing decisions are made based on scientific value, novelty, applicability, and academic quality of the manuscript.
- There is no discrimination regarding gender, academic titles, degrees, institutional affiliation, nationality, religion, or personal views of the authors.
- The Editorial Board and Editors are responsible for keeping information about the manuscript, authors, and reviewers confidential throughout the entire processing workflow.
- When there are suspicions or evidence of publication ethics violations, the Editorial Board will conduct a review following procedures consistent with COPE guidelines.
- Handling measures may include: Rejecting the manuscript, retracting published articles, publishing a notice of violation, or restricting/deciding not to accept submissions from the violating author for a certain period.
Policy on the Use of Artificial Intelligence (AI)
- Generative AI tools (such as ChatGPT, Gemini, Claude, or similar tools) cannot be listed as an author under any circumstances.
- Authors must transparently disclose the use of AI in the process of research, writing, editing, translation, data analysis, or the creation of images/tables.
- This information should be clearly stated in the Acknowledgments or Research Methods section.
- Human authors bear full responsibility for the content of the article, including content generated with the assistance of AI.
- The use of AI to fabricate data, create fake citations, or manipulate research results is strictly prohibited.
- Reviewers must not use generative AI to draft review comments without permission from the Editorial Board and must ensure absolute confidentiality.
- The Journal encourages authors, reviewers, and editors to proactively update and enhance their understanding of the ethical implications of AI in scientific publishing.
- This policy will be reviewed and updated periodically to reflect new standards, technologies, and ethical requirements in the field of academic publishing.
